Ralston Contracts is a family-owned hard landscaping business based in Ayr. Established a year ago by husband and wife team John and Natalie Anderson, the company works alongside homeowners to transform their garden into their dream outdoor living space, with a high standard of workmanship and top level customer service.

It was after attending various Business Gateway webinars that Natalie decided to contact South Ayrshire Council’s Business Gateway team for support in developing the business.

Natalie explains: “We’re currently in a stage of growth, and our Business Advisor, along with the council’s AMBITION programme, has really helped us to get here. We were initially awarded Digital Expert Help which allowed us to have a promotional video produced for our website. This has already made a real impact.

“We’ve also had finance support, including help with our cashflow projections for our Business Plan, and are in the final stages of securing grant funding. We’re in the process of hiring a second team so we can have two working on jobs at the same time, and we plan to use the AMBITION grant to purchase additional tools.

“We’re extremely grateful for all the support we’ve received via Business Gateway. Our Business Advisor has been excellent, very approachable and easy to deal with. She keeps in regular contact and was also delighted for us when we won the award for Ayrshire’s Growth Business of the Year Award (0-10 employees) at the Ayrshire Business Awards! She’s been on the journey with us and we know we can count on her support going forward too.”
